The Grinning Gourmand is a boutique style catering company that has been running as a successful business since March 2005. The Grinning Gourmand specialises in large and small catered events, fine food, Gourmet-to-Go and Imported Cheeses.  Whether it’s a  luncheon for 20, cocktail party for 50 or a sit down wedding for 500, the possibilities are endless.

Our mission is to provide our clients with a unique, sensory experience with quality food and personalised service.

After attending the George Brown Culinary Program, gaining experience in a myriad of established restaurants in Toronto, working as a personal chef and owning his own catering business, Paul decided to go into business with his wife Cary by officially launching The Grinning Gourmand. Cary and Paul are both natives of Burlington and it was their dream to open a Burlington based gourmet food shop and catering business together. Banking on Paul’s training in culinary and Cary’s expertise in nutrition, GGs philosophy is about good, honest food in an inspiring and tantalizing way. 

The Grinning Gourmand has been recognized as a catering company that offers a personalized touch: One-on-one menu planning meetings is always encouraged, as is the client’s suggestions on helping conceptualize the food options.  

We make everything from scratch in our kitchen with recipes that we have developed and tested throughout the years.
 
One of our strengths is our ability to adapt to any catering situation.  We come from a “just ask”  perspective in that we are happy to accommodate our clients special requirements and specific needs. 

We are truly a “one stop shop”; we can provide you fresh and unique menu options, multiple styles of service, arrange for wait staff, licensed bartenders and even arrange your rental needs. We lend our expertise to making your event run as smoothly and flawless as can be.

In our 6 years in Burlington we have built up a substantial client base for catering.  A few of our successes (you can read more about our successes here) include:
     • being a preferred caterer for the brand new Burlington Performing Arts Centre
     • catering the annual Mohawk College convocation ceremony for 2,500 guests, as well as       their fall Presidential dinner that is held at our former Mayor's house Rob MacIsaac
     • The Burlington Fireman`s Annual Charity Event for 2011 which was for 750 guests.

We also specialise in smaller events, we have clients located in the Roseland and Lakeshore areas and have catered everything from small intimate dinner parties to large backyard weddings.

We think everyone should get a chance to be treated and pampered. We are great with working within budgets from less expensive menus to high end functions. Our “Pick Up Catering” program is a huge success for those looking for an elegant event with a smaller budget. We can have everything put together, plated and ready to go with simple heating instructions. We even offer a delivery service to help out.

The Grinning Gourmand is involved in the community through our support and donations to various organisations.  One of our highlights is donating a Christmas dinner each year to shelters for batter women and their children through The Good Shepherd. You can read more about our donations, special causes and community involvement here.
